Whats wrong with the Dolphins??????

Since the NFL went to 16 games back in 1977, no team has lost all 16 games during a regular season. But that is exactly what the Miami Dolphins are facing right now. Why is Miami struggling just to get a single win? I point to 3 reasons to why the Dolphins are 0-13:

1. Taking Ted Ginn Jr over Brady Quinn
Okay, Devin Hester sets a record for kick returns in a single season. He even returns the opening kickoff of the Superbowl back for a touchdown. He even becomes the first player to ever get a 100 speed rating on Madden. Thats still no excuse to take Ted Ginn Jr with the 10th overall pick. You do not draft kick returners in the Top 10. Especially when you have a big need at quarterback. And Brady Quinn just fell into your laps. On top of that, you end up getting rid of Culpepper and you get a guy who isn't getting any younger who is just getting over a concussion? Brilliant!!!

2. Where is the defense?
Every year when Fantasy Football would begin, this was a defense I would always hope to land late. This defense has always played at a high level. Last year, they finished 4th in the NFL. In the off season, they add a guy the caliber of Joey Porter. Not to mention you have arguably the best DE in the NFL in Jason Taylor. So what is really going on?

3. Bad quarterback play
Right now, they are just getting nothing from their quarterbacks. Which brings me to two questions: Why did you let Culpepper walk? What were you thinking about when you took Ted Ginn Jr over Brady Quinn with the 10th pick in the NFL Draft? I'm not saying you have to be Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. I don't think anyone can. But Baltimore won a Superbowl in 2000 with Trent Dilfer at quarterback. Buccaneers did it in 2002 with Brad Johnson. Of course both had defenses I would easily put as the best of all time. But if your quarterbacks are not playing at a consistent level week in and week out, you are not going to win many games.


The Dolphins might become the first team to ever go 0-16. But when the draft comes around again, do not draft a kick returner with a Top 10 pick when you have a glaring need at quarterback. Yes, they drafted John Beck from BYU in the 2nd round. But that still does not make up for Drafting Ginn over Quinn. What they need to do is draft a guy like Matt Ryan with their first round pick. Or they could go offensive line with Jake Long out of Michigan. Then pick up a guy like Andre Woodson in the 2nd. Whatever you do, do not take another Ted Ginn Jr with a Top 10 pick. And in this case, the #1 overall pick.
